You’ll direct the actions of famous characters from history, and if they’re not out in the field commanding your armies, they’ll be politicking in the senate house, or its cultural equivalent. Players will need to work with – and in certain circumstances against – their faction’s internal political system. Some factions are split into a number of playable families, which bring further unique benefits to their base faction traits. Each will have its own dilemmas to face and different styles of army to manage. Each brings unique commercial, military and political strengths, its own agents and political system, and three tech trees representing civic, military and engineering disciplines. The playable factions represent key powers within the Greco-Roman, Barbarian, and Eastern cultures, and each offers a notably different and deeper form of gameplay experience from those in previous Total War games. If you want to buy Rome II, just hold off for the yearly TW Humble Bundle that's surely going to happen seeing how there are 2 TW games set to release this year. They've ported some of Attila's mechanics into Rome II, but eh, still like Attila better.Īnd then I'll add in what I said in another post earlier. Even though I prefer Rome II's time period, I liked Attila 100 times better, as I saw it having everything that Rome II failed to deliver.Īll TWs have that mid-game point where you're left just steamrolling the map, but in Rome II I always felt like just quitting instead of carrying on as I do in the other TWs. I bought well after launch, so my opinion has no tainted thoughts from the launch experience others had. It was good but not great, most boring and non-immersive of all TWs to me.
